MATERIAL SELECTION

From a cutting
to a clear decision.

Explore the fabric catalog or move your requirements into the sample selection process.

Smooth or textured

For a smooth fitted layer, start with article 6602. If a rib forms part of the garment design, compare article 6609. Article 8614 offers a different lightweight textured option for outdoor and casual garments.

Compare more than fiber content

The selected articles span 75–82% nylon and 18–25% spandex. Their specified widths also differ. When comparing nylon and spandex fabric, put the blend, width and fabric face beside your garment brief so each cutting answers a clear design question.

Make a sample shortlist

Add articles to your sample list as you browse. Your inquiry carries the selected references together with the application and estimated fabric quantity, giving the fabric team a focused starting point.

Material names on the specification

If your brief uses polyamide elastane fabric, reconcile the wording with the composition of the selected article. You may also see nylon elastane fabric or nylon and elastane fabric on a material request. Keep the full blend percentages and article reference together. The spandex and elastane guide explains the elastic-fiber names used in that discussion.

Choose the surface you want to compare

For a subdued fabric face, include a matte nylon spandex fabric reference. If the design calls for a more reflective appearance, compare the shiny nylon spandex fabric route, including article 8618. For a visible surface pattern, article 8614 is a textured nylon spandex fabric option. Compare these faces beside the same garment and color direction so observations stay specific.

Define the knitted stretch requirement

Keep construction with the material name when selecting nylon spandex knit fabric. For a 4 way stretch nylon spandex fabric request, specify the directions and the evaluation requirements your pattern needs. The blend, fabric face and measured requirements belong in separate fields; a higher spandex percentage alone does not describe the finished garment’s behavior.

BEFORE YOU SELECT

A few practical details.

Which nylon–spandex blends can I compare?

The featured articles include 80/20, 75/25 and 82/18 nylon–spandex blends. Open the individual article pages to compare the corresponding width, surface and garment applications.

Can I use one article for every garment?

Start with the garment construction and surface you need. Review a cutting and a sewn sample against the same brief before choosing the fabric for production.
